RFID Tribe Montreal
Chapter Meeting
Montréal, QC
September 5, 2007
Well, the 1st Montreal
RFID Tribe meeting was a success!
Here’s a summary
of the evening…
The event was hosted by
Academia
RFID in an RFID enabled warehouse that
is currently used for Liaison Can/US’
customers for “slap & ship”
and “print & apply” RFID
tagging, RFID warehousing and transportation.

Jean-Francois Thériault,
Principal Director of Logistics and Transportation
at the SAQ, presented the results from a
multi-year study and Proof of Concept that
was performed on the impact of RFID on its
operational processes. He also shared his
vision of the technology and where RFID
benefits could eventually be found. What
I thought was really interesting and of
particular value, were the insightful and
specific examples he provided on how certain
decisions could impact the project in a
big way.

There was also a networking
session. This was a great opportunity to
meet other people working with or evaluating
RFID technology. There were so many interesting
people to meet that the last participants
left at 9PM! Academia RFID also sponsored
some great door prizes which added a touch
of “fun” to the event.
We had participants from
the following companies:
Air Canada, Johnson & Johnson, Rogers
Communications, Bell Canada, Academia RFID,
Novva-iD, Taglogic RFID, Liaison Can/US,
Mcdonald DesChênes, Kruger, Motorola
Division Enterprise Mobility, Hewlett-Packard
Canada, iFact inc., SAQ, BlueStar Canada,

ePoly, Ecole Polytechnique Montreal, Université
de Sherbrooke, Deloitte Consulting, Overheer
