NEW INTERACTIVE RFID EVENT SYSTEM WELCOMES GUESTS AT LAUNCH
Academia RFID’s TESTeam delivers new RFID system at Apollo Agency and Loft Le 4ème.
December 7th,
2011– Montreal (QC), Canada
Montreal’s Apollo Agency is known for a few things: flashy loft parties, being media darlings and having the hippest crowd in the city attending their monthly ‘Apollo Thursdays’. They can now add: cutting-edge technology adopters to that list. They introduced the use of RFID welcome cards at their latest event in November; the launch of local band St. Ange’s debut album Second Nature.
Apollo Agency mandated the Academia RFID TESTeam to develop a system that would enhance the attendees’ experience, automate the greeting and the event’s ‘info of the evening’, allow them to interact with the event’s host at the entrance’s ‘welcome station’ and manipulate a ‘video station’ that projected the band’s latest music videos. By having guests register on-line prior to the launch, Apollo had a database with the attendee’s coordinates as well as their language preference (French or English) and their status as media representatives or not.
The system used RFID UHF labels (applied to the back of the event’s welcome cards), readers and near-field antennas at each station and projectors connected to laptops that would provide the content displayed across the loft’s walls. Pre-videotaped messages were personalized based on the guest’s language preference and status and projected once the welcome card was swiped within inches of the antennas. The video station allowed guest to control the starting, re-start or changing of the music videos in a separate area of the Apollo.
Eric Sicotte, CEO, Apollo Agency, said; “Our events always attract a large number of event professionals on the look for new products and novel event technologies. We are honored to be featuring this ground-breaking technology and to welcome Academia RFID’s system to our Apollo Thursdays, offering our guests tomorrow’s technology - today.”
Academia RFID’s Director of Research, Harold Boeck, PhD, added: “Every successful installation that asks ‘consumers’ to interact with RFID in a live environment is an extremely valuable opportunity to evaluate the efficiency of the solution and assess its real benefits. These opportunities are extremely valuable to our work at Academia RFID, to the advancement of adoption and to the acceptance by the public”.
The RFID Event System was engineered by the Academia RFID TESTeam and includes:
- ERM (Effecto RFID Middleware) developed
and powered by Effecto Solutions
- Speedway Revolution RFID Readers by
Impinj
- RFID Antennas by Motorola
The system is now permanently installed for all future Apollo Thursdays.
